Press Release regarding ASMA

December 17, 2014 - For Immediate Release - The Municipality of Crowsnest Pass has received a facility review and evaluation of the Albert Stella Memorial Arena. The purpose of the review, which commenced in 2013, was to investigate the condition of the building, short and long term renovation costs, and the viability of renovation options. As a result of the evaluation, several flags were raised by the consultant with regard to the condition of the building that will require further evaluation and testing. As a precaution, and in the interest of ensuring the health and safety of our user groups, staff and the public, the Municipality must temporarily close the facility until the full scope of the issues are investigated further. The Municipality apologizes for the short notice, however this issue required immediate action to minimize safety risks. The Municipality will be working with the user groups to attempt to find alternate arrangements so that they may continue their programming. For more information please contact Lyle Hannan, Director of Community Services at (403) 562-8833.

Looks like a good time to bring up the new rec center idea. Instead of spending piles of money to fix an old building with very limited use I think it is time for this community to suck it up and build a rec center. Build it on that site.
It is the same with our existing swimming pool, very limited use and piles of money spent trying to keep it going.
Both of these building are also costing tax payer's for their day to day operations also.
It is time!!
Merry Christmas!!!

After looking at the list above. We're not going to have enough money to buy lumps of coal for Christmas let alone a rec center.
Merry Christmas!!!

I see you had an in Camera discussion of the ASMA Facility Evaluation on Dec. 2.
The resolution says "the report be included in Capital Budget discussions". Does that mean it is public information that you can talk about? I can't find it on the website.

According to a report, 25 per cent of council's time was spent in secret in 2014

"I would say that some of these topics that they're discussing such as go cart racing, blank walls facing city land, sports events recommendations," he said. "It's very ambiguous and the onus is on them to tell us why it needed to be held in-camera rather than us to say 'hey, you should be showing us more.'"

What is CNP's percentage In Camera ?
